Professional background

Ian has had over thirty years consulting experience as a project manager and director, information technology consultant, and business consultant with Unisys, Wang/Gen-i, XACTA, Synergy, WD Scott, Deloittes and in private practice. He also spent three years as Information Systems Manager for Electricorp Marketing an organisation comprising 2500 staff dispersed nationwide.
As a Project Director he has overseen the implementation of project management methodologies, undertaken project health checks, been an independent member on project steering committees and provided mentoring to client’s internal project managers.
As a Project Manager he has successfully deployed business critical systems for organisations with 200 branches and over 3500 staff. He has also undertaken projects which involve significant human and technical change management.
Ian has an extensive history of undertaking reviews both of projects and of ICT. These have all been undertaken from a business rather than a technical perspective, often resulting in strategic changes being adopted and/or the development of a pragmatic strategic road map.
Ian has also successfully completed assignments where eDRMS is the focus or a core part of the overall project. He has worked with eDocs, Open Text Content Server and iManage eDRMS systems. He has also been instrumental in establishing an iManage New Zealand Users Group and an Open Text Content Server Government Business Owners Group.

His role as a Business Consultant has been to assist clients with scoping and defining business requirements, identifying and evaluating software packages or bespoke software to meet business needs, harnessing technology to address business opportunities and challenges and to provide professional advice and mentoring for clients.

As a Project Director he has overseen the implementation of project management methodologies, undertaken project health checks, been an independent member on project steering committees and provided mentoring to client’s internal project managers.

One of Ian’s strengths is his ability to relate to people from all levels of the organisation, identifying and translating business requirements into technical terms, and technical speak into language understandable to the various stakeholders.
