Typical projects

HTS-110 Strategic Business Development

HTS-110 is a fledgling technology company with a unique capability in the specialised field of High Temperature Super Conductors. As a growing business in a high risk field robust strategic business planning is challenging but essential to guide business activity. HTS-110 engaged Acuity Partners to assist in the development of its medium term Strategic Plan, including financial modelling and strategy definition.

Murray Pugh worked very closely with the Chief Executive to prepare a strategic plan that forecast the 6 year financial position of the business based on a number of marketing/sales, resourcing, technology, manufacturing, and financing strategies. The plan, endorsed by the Board was later used as the basis for preparing an Investment Business Case to raise new capital for implementing the Strategic Plan.

Meridian Energy - Long Term Accommodation Project

Meridian Energy Limited is New Zealand's largest electricity generator and a significant retailer with key offices in Wellington Christchurch and Twizel. Identifying that it would outgrow its Wellington office accommodation Meridian initiated a project to find new premises that aligned with its work style principles, its strategic positioning and provided benchmarked value comparability. Meridian invited Acutiy Partners to manage this project from inception.

Murray Pugh was selected as the Project Manager responsible for all aspects of the project in Meridian. His role extended from managing the definition of business requirements, taking those requirements to market, selecting the accommodation solution, negotiating the commercial terms, liaising with the building designers, monitoring construction, planning for relocation and facilitating communications with staff and stakeholders.

A key aspect of Murray’s involvement was his understanding of ‘green’ building principles used in commercial office buildings. Incorporating Ecologically Sustainable Design into buildings requires careful management of design excellence to ensure cost and principle are balanced for optimal performance. Meridian had a particular interest in energy efficiency and water conservation which led to selecting a building that is planned to deliver exceptional performance in each of these areas.
